Selling

Anyone can build now. That is exactly why selling decides who wins.

Building got cheap and selling did not. The supply of people who can ship a product has exploded, while the supply of people who can walk a stranger from indifference to a signed agreement has barely moved — which is why the constraint on most technical businesses is no longer the product.

I spent a year on the other side of that gap: cold calls to trades businesses, thousands of cold emails, hundreds of DMs, and the slow discovery that almost everything written about sales is written for people who already sell for a living. Very little of it is written for the person who built the thing and now has to go and sell it.

This page is what came out of that. Six free tools that check the specific things which decide whether outreach gets a reply, and the writing underneath them. Everything here runs in your browser, nothing is gated, and none of it asks you to book anything.

Six things you can use right now

What holds

Four things that decide the outcome

Structure beats wording

Almost every ignored cold email fails structurally, not stylistically. It opens with filler instead of a reason, argues mechanism instead of outcome, and ends without an ask small enough to answer. Rewriting the sentences does not fix any of those.

The ask has to match the temperature

A first message closing for a 30-minute call is asking a stranger for the most expensive thing they own. The ask should cost the reader almost nothing, and it should get more expensive only as the relationship warms.

Sell the outcome, demo the evidence

Builders show what a thing does because that is the part they are proud of. Buyers are purchasing a result and treat the mechanism as detail. A demo works when it is evidence for a problem the buyer already named out loud.

Price is a position, not a calculation

Costing your hours and adding a margin prices your inputs, which the buyer is not purchasing. The number also has to survive being said out loud without flinching, because hesitation is audible and it gets discounted.

If the systems are the problem, not the pitch

Most of what I actually get paid for is the layer underneath this — the follow-up that never happens, the pipeline living in someone's head, the reporting nobody has time to run. That work is on the services page, and the audit in front of it is free and uncapped.
