Week of July 6–13, 2026 — The Machine Runs

The One-Liner

Calls in the cafe by morning, systems by night — the week the machine started running without me holding it up.

What Happened

Monday — Kill Fast, Then Build

Started the week testing a referral-partner channel I'd had my eye on. One hour in, I had my answer: no incentive alignment, nothing in it for them, wrong energy. Killed it on the spot and logged an angle for later. A month ago that call would've taken me days to walk away from — this time it took an hour. Spent the rest of the day batching the entire week's content so the days ahead could be wall-to-wall calls, and shipped a few internal tools while I was at it.

Tuesday — I Found My Format

Fifty-odd cold calls, all from a cafe, and I think I've found my setup. “I love doing my calls in a cafe — it's so much better.” Plan was six hours; I did the volume in three at double the planned pace, then napped, then kept producing. The calls still drain me, but the skill curve is real — I can feel the guys who aren't going to budge now, and I just let them go instead of grinding. Came home and, off-plan, built out a backup roadmap for the whole operation. The realisation buried in that exercise mattered more than the doc: everything I've built means the work isn't fragile anymore.

Midweek → Weekend — Heads Down, Shipping

The back half of the week went quiet on the outside and loud on the inside — this is where most of the building happened. No daily notes, just output.

What I Built

• A post-tracking system — logs every social post across platforms and captures the read on the engagement (who a post was for vs who actually showed up). The wrong-crowd posts are the interesting ones.
• A weekly build-recap tool — turns a week of work into a clean “here's what I shipped” list, automatically.
• A build-decision filter — a fast BUILD / FIX / KILL verdict on any new idea, so I stop building on reflex.
• Interactive hover-video previews across all 13 tools on my site — hover any card, watch it run, click to expand.
• Agency site polish — trust signals, a cursor spotlight effect, and two new blog clusters published with covers.
• A niche rating system and daily content-habit tracking baked into my planner.

What Was Hard

• Cold calls still cost me real energy — two to three hours is my honest ceiling before I need to reset. The answer isn't willpower, it's two shorter blocks with recovery between.
• I burned too many calls on a niche I'd already concluded wasn't hungry. Execution isn't my problem anymore — aim is. Skill is compounding; targeting still leaks.

The Honest Take

This was the week the two halves of what I do stopped competing. Mornings are cold calls in a cafe — draining, but I'm visibly getting better at reading people in real time. Nights are systems — and this week I built the ones that make the whole operation legible to me: what I ship, what I post, what actually lands. The quiet realisation underneath all of it: the systems are solid enough now that the work survives me changing shape. That's a different kind of security than a full pipeline. It's the kind you build once and keep.

Next Week

Aim, not effort. Fewer dials into niches I've already ruled out, more into the one operator who was actually hungry. Two call blocks, real recovery between.
